Paul Allen BA, FCA

Paul Allen joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in March 2013.

The Chief Executive of Monsoon Accessorize since early 2015, Paul joined the company in 2013 as Finance Director. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive of the Jacques Vert Group for over 10 years, having previously been their Finance Director. Paul has also worked for PricewaterhouseCooper.

Paul is married with three children and enjoys cycling and walking in his spare time.

Dr Catherine Bell, CB

Dr Catherine Bell joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in October 2016.

Catherine’s executive career was in the Department for Business, which she left in 2005 to take up a number of non-executive roles. She led the Department as Permanent Secretary.

Over the last ten years, Catherine has built up wide non-executive experience at board level in the public, private and regulated sectors, including the Department of Health, the Civil Aviation Authority and United Utilities Group Plc. She currently sits on the Boards of National Grid Gas plc, National Grid Electricity plc and Cadent Gas Ltd. Catherine is a member of the Competition Appeals Tribunal. She is also Governor of the London School of Economics, and a pension trustee of the Charity for Civil Servants.

Sarah Brown

Sarah Brown joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in September 2007 and is the Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee.

Following a career as a Senior Civil Servant (Department of Trade and Industry), Sarah has a portfolio of interests which includes charity trustee and school governor. Previous experience includes being vice chair of a Primary Care Trust and of a special needs Housing Association, and a lay member on the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Rosie Cunningham Thomas

Rosie joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in January 2018.

Rosie has 25 years of executive experience holding senior commercial positions in the medical technology industry, primarily focusing on the European and North American markets. She has led surgical divisions of market leading multinationals and has driven the development of small newly established venture capital backed investments. Over the past 12 years, Rosie has specialised in leading and scaling early stage, innovation driven health technology companies through critical growth stages to full commercialisation and clinically evidenced market acceptance.

Most recently, Rosie has been CEO and Senior Risk & Compliance Officer of NASDAQ listed Episurf Medical AB, which develops personalised orthopaedic implants. Rosie was also CEO and Senior Risk Officer of UK-based ToHealth Ltd., interim CEO of FreeHand 2010 Ltd. and European President & General Manager of Galil Medical. Prior to that, she was UK Sales and Marketing Director for NYSE listed CR Bard. Rosie has also held several senior commercial positions at FTSE listed Smiths Industries within the medical division. Rosie is a pharmacist and earned a pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and studied business management at the University of Pennsylvania.

Rosie is a Trustee Director at Diabetes UK, is a subject matter expert for OurMobileHealth, a digital health mentor for StartUpBootcamp Berlin and a former advisor to Ieso Digital Health.

For fun, Rosie likes to play sport, cook and biohack her own health data to stay fit and well.

Steven Dance

Steven Dance joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in September 2016 and is Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

Steven is a Chartered Director and holds an MA in Natural Sciences from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School.

Steven began his career with Schlumberger in the Middle East in the oilfield sector. He then served 12 years with Coats Viyella where he held a variety of general management positions based in Germany, Portugal, South America and the UK.

He subsequently worked for Scottish Power, executing a number of M&A transactions including the disposal of subsidiaries in Australia and the UK, and the flotation of Thus before joining Interserve in 2004, where he served on the main Plc Board and as Managing Director of RMD Kwikform. He was the Board’s lead director of Health and Safety and was the Sustainability Director for several years.

Steven lives locally and is married with two children.

Peter Flamank FCA (Retired), CPFA

Peter Flamank joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in 2013 and is the Chair of the Audit Committee.

Peter is a Chartered Accountant and retired partner from PricewaterhouseCooper. Peter enjoyed a 35-year career with the organisation, principally in London but also in New Zealand and more latterly Hungary, where he was Senior Assurance Partner with additional quality and risk management responsibilities for Slovakia, Czech Republic, Croatia and Slovenia. Since retirement, Peter has also worked extensively with Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and with the New Zealand High Commission to influence Government policy on immigration. He now holds non-executive directorships with Lloyds of London Insurance Managing Agents.

Peter is a New Zealander by birth but settled in the UK and has lived in the Tunbridge Wells area for the past 30 years.

Dr Sue Grieve BSc. PhD. Dip Law. - Chairman

Sue joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in 2010 and was Chairman of the Audit Committee from 2011 to 2013. She was elected Chairman in 2014.

Sue is a scientist and lawyer who has spent her career in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. She is currently a consultant working with early stage technology companies. Her experience includes the UK Medicines Regulatory Authority (MHRA), Wellcome Research Laboratories, GlaxoWellcome, Baker & McKenzie LLP, AstraZeneca and a number of small biotechnology companies.

She has a particular interest in innovation and medical research.

 Sue lives locally to The Horder Centre, is a keen tennis player and likes to travel.

Amanda Parker MBA MSc MA BSc RN RNT

Amanda joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in January 2018

Amanda trained as a nurse at The Middlesex Hospital, London and has worked in the NHS for more than 25 years specialising in operating theatre practice, governance and quality and risk management. Amanda’s previous posts were as the Director of Nursing and Quality at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (2009-2015) and at Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (2015 – 2017) where an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ was achieved as a part of the 2016 CQC inspection.

 Amanda is married, has three children, lives locally and enjoys travelling and felting.    

Peter Soer

Peter joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in January 2018.

Peter is an experienced marketing business leader and an executive coach.

He spent 28 years delivering growth, leading marketing powered businesses around the world, the last 10 in senior leadership roles at Unilever & Kellogg’s. He ran national, regional and global businesses in categories including oral care, deodorants, cereal and soy drinks. He has worked in the UK, Netherlands, Ireland and China, travelled extensively (32 countries at last count), built and led multi-cultural cross-functional teams around the world.

Peter qualified as a coach at Henley Business School. He is a leadership coach and marketing mentor, who loves working with people and teams to fulfil more of their potential. He graduated from Cambridge University in Natural Sciences / Pharmacology.

John Turner

Joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in January 2018. John has just finished a year’s assignment with Ellisons Solicitors in East Anglia reviewing the firms IT strategy and implementing a digital transformation project. John brings a wealth of experience in the form of IT, Risk, Governance and IT.

John has worked for a number of years in both law and professional service firms, including his role as IT Director for one of the UK’s top 10 accountancy practices, BDO LLP. He has also worked at Allen & Overy and AMP. 

Dr Richard Tyler (Chief Executive Officer)

Richard Tyler joined Horder Healthcare as Chief Executive Officer in November 2016. Richard’s previous post was as CEO of Queen Victoria Hospital, (QVH) East Grinstead, where he achieved an “Outstanding” rating for patient care as part of the 2016 CQC inspection. Richard has over 25 years of healthcare experience in a wide variety of settings, the last ten of which have been at board level. Richard lives locally with his wife Rachael and is a keen fisherman.

David Yates BM FRCA FFICM

Joined the Board of Horder Healthcare in January 2018. Born and brought up in the Tunbridge Wells area, David qualified in Medicine from Southampton University in 1977, and went on to specialise in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care. In the course of his training he worked in Wessex, Bristol and London as well as spells abroad in Sweden, South Africa and Zimbabwe, before returning as a consultant to Tunbridge Wells. Now retired he still works part time for the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

For 20 years he had a leading regional role in Postgraduate Medical Education and served as Director of Medical Education for Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and as Associate Dean for Quality Management for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery.

Married to a doctor, his interests include travelling, music, gardening and Alpine pursuits.

Rachel Dixon (Operations Director)

Rachel joined Horder Healthcare in April 2008 as Director of Clinical Services and in 2017 was appointed to the role of Operations Director. Rachel trained as a nurse at St. Thomas’ Hospital, London and has worked within the NHS and Independent sector in senior management positions having spent 5 years as a Matron for BUPA hospitals and a further 8 years with Nuffield Hospitals. Rachel has a particular interest in governance, quality and risk management and leads Horder Healthcare’s Clinical Excellence programme.

H. Ian Hatfield BA(Hons) FCMA (Company Secretary)

Ian Hatfield has been involved with Horder Healthcare since 1998 and is the former Non Executive Finance Director.

Previously, Ian has held Group Finance Director / Company Secretary roles mainly in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and engineering sectors including Erin Holdings, Fisons Consumer Health (Business Development Director), PSV  and Gwyndann Group (which included UK operational responsibility).  Ian has also held financial management positions with Merck, Letraset, Volkswagen and Sewell Group.

Ian has extensive M&A experience in the UK and also EU, USA & Africa.

Dr Paul Reynolds MB BS, FRCP, BSc (Medical Director)

Dr Paul Reynolds was appointed as Medical Director of The Horder Centre in 2009 having previously been a visiting Consultant Physician for several years.

Paul has been a Consultant Physician at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust since 1993.
