Horder Healthcare take part in Rural Sustainability Day - Field to Fork

Guy Heasman (Hotel Services Manager) and Louise Trinder (Chef Manager) from Horder Healthcare visited two local food suppliers along with BBC South East Today and The Hospital Caterers Association. The group watched butchers demonstrating primal cuts, processing and packing. Although not shown on the clip, Guy also sat on the back of a tractor planting broccoli.

The segment focuses on the fact that the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust now source 85% of their food locally, saving thousands of pounds a year. The Horder Centre are also looking at the possibilities of introducing the same local suppliers to supply their food.

Locally sourced food means that it is of a better quality, fresher, cuts down on mileage and creates more local jobs, boosting our economy.
