Horder Healthcare wins Green Apple Environment Award

Horder Healthcare has won a Green Apple Environment Award 2014 for Environmental Best Practice.

The charity competed against 500 other nominations for Environmental Best Practice and will be presented with its award at a presentation in the Houses of Parliament on November 10.

Horder Healthcare, which celebrates its 60th birthday this year, won the award for the environmental impact of reorganising services to provide an efficient, yet therapeutic impact for staff and patients.

Guy Heasman, Hotel Services Manager for Horder Healthcare, said: “We work very hard to reduce our carbon footprint and are very proud of what we’ve achieved environmentally so it’s fantastic news to receive this award.”

The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as the county’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities and countries.

The awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent group dedicated to recognising and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
