It’s in your hands – prevent sepsis in health care

Horder Healthcare has pledged to support the World Health Organisation's (WHO) annual awareness campaign 'Clean your Hands 2018' and will promote the key messages to both staff and patients over the coming week.

We take hand hygiene extremely seriously and have already included it as part of our mandatory training for both clinical and non clinical staff at all sites. In addition we audit our hand hygiene as part of our compliance throughout the year.

WHO calls on health facilities to prevent health care-associated sepsis through hand hygiene and infection prevention and control (IPC) action. Sepsis is estimated to affect more than 30 million patients every year worldwide. At the Seventieth World Health Assembly in May 2017, Member States adopted a resolution on improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sepsis.

Patient Testimonials

  • Nhs Patient

Hip Replacement (total) | The Horder Centre

From my first consultation to having a total hip replacement the advice and care were second to none. The care doesn't finish after going home. I received a phone call to check my progress and have the Horder Centre comprehensive book to refer to.

  • Ann Waterman

Hip Replacement (total) | The Horder Centre

“I was looked after very well and liked the fact that most patients were there for similar operations, so you didn’t feel alone. The first couple of months after the operation were the toughest. I only managed to walk about a quarter of a mile with a stick, but I gradually started walking a little further and then one day I realised I actually walked better without the stick. I managed to get up Vesuvius, with the help of my daughter Pippa and by taking breaks. I would never have been able to do the climb before the operation.”

  • Chris Briggs

    Ophthalmology | The McIndoe Centre

Mr Lake was very clear in his explanation of what the operation would entail and we discussed the various options of different lenses so that I could choose what was best for me. I was a day patient both times and the care was really excellent from start to finish.

I don’t need to wear glasses now and can thoroughly recommend The McIndoe to anyone who has cataracts. The operations have really made a difference to my life.”

  • Valerie Henwood

Bunion Surgery | The Horder Centre

“All the staff at The Horder Centre were so helpful.  It was great that someone actually took notice and realised what a negative impact the bunions were having on me. The operation has given me a new lease of life. In addition to walking again, I am now cycling too."
