Our Therapeutic Standing Pilates class is suitable for those who want to work at their own pace in a gentle, relaxed and friendly class.

The exercises are performed in a standing position with all the benefits of mat-based Pilates.  This class is performed at a slow pace and can help to improve and optimise posture and gait, is gentle on vulnerable joints and focuses on improving balance giving confidence for everyday activities. Specially formulated for those who would like to exercise, but who find it difficult to get on and off the floor easily.

Important Notice

As a registered charity we endeavour to ensure that all of our classes are competitively priced. Prices have been able to remain unchanged for over three years however following our latest review it is necessary to apply a small increase of £1.00 to all classes. This change will apply to all classes from 1st January 2019.

Please bear in mind, future block bookings of Pilates will now be charged at the new price if the classes take place in 2019. Thank you for your understanding

The class is targeted at those who wish to:

  • Find an alternative to mat-based Pilates because of difficulty getting on and off the floor;
  • Help in the prevention of osteoporosis and osteopenia (a medical condition in which the protein and mineral content of bone tissue is reduced, but less severely than in osteoporosis);
  • Improve their standing balance because they are at risk of falls;
  • Progress from the Pilates mat-based exercises into standing;
  • Help to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles in a functional position.

Personal exercise therapy is a one to one session with fully individualised support from a qualified Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor.
