Shoulder pain has a number of different causes. The pain is normally localised in the front of the joint but on occasions can run down the arm. Other closely associated symptoms can range from clicking and stiffness to a feeling of instability.

Horder Healthcare Physiotherapy can offer a variety of treatments to help you recover from your shoulder pain. These include:

Manipulation and mobilisation

These techniques work on specific areas of pain in order to improve movement in the shoulder and related areas.

Sports Massage and taping

The massage is diagnostic in nature, to feel for strains and help prevent further injury. Sports tape may be applied to the skin to stabilise the muscles and bones to help reduce pain.

Soft tissue massage

This involves manipulation of the muscles, tendons and ligaments to help alleviate pain and discomfort.

Exercise therapy

Your physiotherapist will assess you and then put together a plan of exercises tailored to your needs and condition.  Your exercises will be progressed or modified with your needs.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can provide relief from joint, muscle and chronic pain using an ancient technique.

What our patients say

  • Tom Woolley

    Physiotherapy | The Horder Centre

“As a sportsman himself, Russell really understands how to treat sporting injuries and he knows what is going on. I think many physios are book trained but they don’t have the same knowledge as he does. Russell is also incredibly personable so now when I hear of anyone who has a sporting injury and needs physio I recommend they see him.”

  • Michael Smith

    Physiotherapy | The Horder Centre

“I decided to fight to get back to my sport. My wife, a chiropractor, knew of the Horder Centre’s reputation so I decided to have physio there. I have to say that without the input of the physiotherapists, first Sam, then Annemarie, at The Horder, I don’t think I’d have got the 95% movement back in my arm. It helps if you’ve got a fighting mentality, and you’re not going to accept the injury, but the work they did was essential. It was quite radical physio and there were many sessions but it worked and I am forever in their debt.”

  • David Summers

Hip Replacement (total) | The Horder Centre

"After I broke my leg, I had one leg half an inch shorter than the other so always had to wear orthotics. Now for the first time, this isn’t the case. At the Horder I was blessed with a top surgeon, Hugh Apthorp, and the quality of nursing was excellent. There were real elements of old fashioned nursing care. The food was excellent and everything was of a much higher standard than I expected.

Walking has always been such an important part of my life and I now feel that I can plan ahead for some of the experiences that I was beginning to fear would elude me before I had my hip replacement.”

  • Fi Tillman

    Physiotherapy | The Horder Centre

“My surgeon, Sam Rajaratnam, my physiotherapist, Hannah Munn and I all worked together to ensure a swift recovery from the operation. It now means that I can undertake my wheelchair transfers with less pain and manage to mobilise over very short distances with crutches and orthotics.

From my first consultation to the moment I left, the service at The Horder Centre was first class. There is clear emphasis on genuine care, compassion, cleanliness, empathy and viewing the patient holistically."
