Professional profile

Oliver Harley is a fully qualified, GMC registered specialist Plastic Surgeon. He is also a member of The British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), and The British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). Mr Harley specialises both in cosmetic surgery and hand surgery.

After qualifying in medicine in 1998 at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London he has gained extensive experience in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery since 2002. Mr Harley completed his higher surgical training at St Thomas’ Hospital (London), St George’s Hospital (London) and Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead) and was awarded FRCS (Plastic Surgery) in 2009.

Personal profile

Mr Harley’s passion and interest in hand surgery has led Mr Harley to participate in charitable surgical missions to Africa and he has organised and tutored for the Royal College of Surgeons Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic course series. Involvement in clinical research, winning conference prizes for research projects in abdominoplasty and in finger joint replacements, has provided him with a deeper understanding of specialist topics. He completed higher specialist Fellowships in hand surgery at world renowned units in Erasmus Hospital, Rotterdam, and Wrightington Hospital, Lancashire.

Patient Story: Tricia Hardcastle

As a keen crafter, Tricia was reliant upon her hands to create homemade cards, but arthritis began to affect the function of her thumbs. Tricia was first administered steroid injections by her local GP surgery before being referred to Mr Oliver Harley, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
