Mr Keast-Butler’s medical training commenced in 1991 at Manchester University Medical School. Whilst at University, Mr Keast-Butler was made a Senate Committee Representative and Vice President of the Medical Student Society.
Following his graduation in 1996, he worked as a Senior House Officer and Specialist Registrar in the Guy’s and St Thomas’ rotation, gaining a diverse range of experience in lower and upper limb orthopaedic surgery.
Mr Keast-Butler was awarded the Fred Heatley research medal for most original paper in 2005.
He completed his fellowship year in Denver, Colorado and Toronto, Canada, where he honed his interests, particularly in the field of primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty and trauma surgery.
He has specialised in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery and also in dealing with complicated lower limb fractures, non-unions and fractures around joint replacements.
Mr Keast-Butler is currently lead for trauma and orthopaedic surgery for the East Sussex Hospitals' NHS Trust.

Oliver Keast-Butler is married to a doctor and has a young family so when not at work, is generally busy. In the past he was a scuba diving instructor and still enjoys some diving, predominately in Scotland. He also enjoys wood-turning and furniture making.
