Professional Profile
Mr Apthorp trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London. He went on to Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital for his orthopaedic training. He then went to Perth in Western Australia to spend a year working with Professor David Wood to further develop his expertise in complex hip and knee surgery.
Mr Apthorp became a consultant in 1999 and, since then, has continued to develop his practice in revision hip surgery, primary hip replacements and young adults with hip problems and, since 2004, minimally invasive hip surgery.
He carries out over 500 hip replacements per year.
