The Horder Centre was delighted to welcome a 12-strong team of corporate volunteers from Openreach as part of our fundraising Spring Appeal. The current focus is to improve the outside spaces for patients including our therapeutic gardens which have been purposefully designed to assist recovery after surgery.
The Openreach team kindly spent a day gardening and painting furniture in the gardens which has made a big visual impact. The centre was also given a generous donation of plants from local Crowborough business, Millbrook Garden Centre, which has added additional colour and scent to enhance the therapeutic environment.
The therapy garden is a unique area where those recovering from surgery can use exercise equipment outside and enjoy the benefits of walking on different surfaces to increase their strength.
Dr Richard Tyler, Chief Executive of Horder Healthcare, said: “We’re very grateful to everyone at Openreach who gave up their time to come along and work in our garden. Their hard work will really benefit our patients. I’d also like to thank the Millbrook Garden Centre for their extremely generous donation of plants and for their help with transporting them to the centre.”
